Here’s a synopsis of Grounds for Murder:
Jeannie Wolfert-Lang is in trouble. Someone wants her farm, and when she refuses to sell, they try to murder her. No-one knows the identity of the prospective buyer because the realtor who represents them is dead, killed by mistake when she borrows Jeannie’s car. Jeannie joins forces with the realtor’s ex-husband in a search for some answers: Who wants her land so much that they are willing to kill for it? And why her farm when hundreds of other farms are offered for sale? Jeannie takes refuge with the young people who rent the nearby quarter section once farmed by her “back-to-the lander” parents. In her quest to find the killer, the sixty-year-old widow grapples with ghosts from her past, navigates a romantic relationship, and copes with the challenge of how to transfer farmland ethically to the next generation.
